I finally got around to disassembling the rest of the turbo. This turbo was still in working condition when I removed it from the car however, from the looks of the internals it would not have been alive much longer. Judging by the amount of wear on the hot side
With the turbo off the car and a new turbo installed I decided to take the old t25 apart and see how she faired. Final wear numbers are Shaft end play: 0.021" Shaft side to side motion (compressor side): 0.019" The internals showed no signs of contact with moving parts.
After 18,505 hard miles, the turbo is dead, it's that simple. I had the car in my shop for two weeks mocking up and installing new charge piping. I also ran a new steel oil supply line for the turbo. While I was in there I checked the end play
I guess its time for another update on the ebay turbo. A couple weeks ago I was picking up my daughter from daycare (yes this is a family vehicle too) I noticed some blue smoke trailing the car. I stopped and checked the oil lines but I didn't see anything
After over 17k miles of somewhat severe driving the turbo is starting to show it's age. Relatively young from a production turbo stand point (OE install) this after market eBay kit has held up quite well for it's price. The turbo is still installed and working and still produces 10
Thoughts Today I surpassed 16,000 miles on the ol eBay turbo. I never through it would make it past the first 5000. I have noticed a small amount of blue smoke in the exhaust during moderate acceleration while the engine is cold. I believe this to be coming from leaky
While I was installing a new clutch I noticed a crack in the weld holding the brace to the collector. I would venture to guess there is a lot of flex at this point every time the manifold heats up and cools down. As lean as I am running this
I recently added a DIY adjustable oil pressure regulator to my turbo supply line. I had been running with no oil restriction since the time of installation, but now, nearing the 15k mile mark the turbo was seeping some oil into the exhaust. This was no big deal, and the turbo
I finally got everything together to tune myself including Crome Pro which has some pretty nifty tools with it. Below are the dyno results using DynoTools which are probably not exactly accurate but provide a good bench mark to go by. The dotted line is with a standard street tune
12,228 Miles Currently 10psi max boost The turbo has been installed and in operation one year today.
